The first trophy event of the 2024 season was held at the Berkshire Golf Club near Ascot on Thursday 21st March. With this being the first event for our 2024 BAGS Captain Miles Wilkinson, all 56 attendees looked to the skies as this day was sandwiched between days of heavy rain that had plagued the winter golfing season. Looking at those returning from 36 holes, one could see the lack of golfing exercise in everyone. However, the rain held off and the Red and Blue courses were presented as expected and resulted in some pretty good golf by the winners. The morning round on the Red course a stableford competition for The Dyke Cup. After a superb three course carvery lunch, we all then trudged to the Blue course for a stableford Foursomes competition in the afternoon. After well earned hot showers, the BAGS members and guests enjoyed sandwiches and the awaited presentation of liquid prizes from our usual supplier Fortnum and Mason. BAGS Captain Miles Wilkinson announced the results and presented the prizes along with news of the forthcoming events before we all headed home.
