Cox Moor and Hollinwell GC
Nick Findlay organised a trip to courses unknown to many but resulted in an excellent test of golf over the two days. The trip was delayed from July to September to allow Nick time to recover from his back operation but he had to watch from the comfort of a buggy as the other 23 BAGS members played two of the best courses in Nottinghamshire. On the 1st day we arrived at Cox Moor with breakfast and 18 holes of golf. Winner on the 1st day was Billy Field. Staying at the Mour Hotel, an excellent evening with food and wine, donated by Marco Franchi the BAGS’s Italian wine expert. The tee time on day two was quite late due to the change of dates, but this proved ideal as a huge thunderstorm passed over around 10am leaving a damp but clear afternoon for the experience of playing Hollinwell, a British Open Qualifying course and it proved to be quite challenging. Winner overall of the two days and taking the Captains Trophy was Richard Collins with Gavin Tuck day 2 winner. The team event had to be a Ryder cup event and was won by Europe, hopefully this helped in the real event a week later!
