The 2022 BAGS Captain’s away trip was held on 14th and 15th July at Royal Cinq Ports in Deal Kent and the re-designed Dunes and Shores course at Princes Golf Club with accommodation at the popular Princes, The Lodge. 20 BAGS members enjoyed fantastic weather meeting at Cinq Ports on the 1st day. Winners were Martyn Howie on 37pts with Patrick Mays coming a close second. There was a room mate prize combining both scores with Martyn Howie and Billy Field taking the 1st day spoils. Nearest the Pin was James Orchard on a very tricky par 3 with strong cross winds. The evening was started watching the British Open on TV followed by excellent food and wine. After breakfast, the golf resumed on the newly re-configured Shores and Dunes course presenting some owners of GPS distance devices helpless to the advice being offered. Winner of the day was Frank Hynes on 39 pts with Matt Hele runner up. Room prize went to Alan Shingler and Matt Hele with nearest the pin to Gavin Tuck. The champion golfer taking the trophy was a ‘tearful’ Frank Hynes with a total of 72pts over the 2 rounds with Matt Hele as runner up. Room prize was again Martyn Howie and Billy Field. Another well organised BAGS Captains away trip and we look forward to hearing next years venue under the organisation of Nick Findlay.
