On Thursday 23rd March the BAGS held the first Members and Guest event of the 2023 Season. With our 2023 Captain Nick Findlay, all eyes where to the skies for good weather but the wind was blowing. Starting on the 200yrd Par 3 of 1st on the Blue course, the 30mph gusting cross wind presented an array of missed green shots! The lunch was a welcome break before heading out on the Red course for the foursome event. However, the strong winds dropped and the clouds gathered, followed by the rustling of waterproof suits and a rather wet finish to the day. The golf was of a decent standard showing the good condition of the course even in the late afternoon wet conditions. After the welcome, hot monsoon shower, we all gathered in the bar for Nick’s first BAGS prize giving of 2023. The results of the Members Dyke Cup was Julian Mitchell with 38 Pts, 2nd James Clements on 36pts and on countback 3rd Richard Taylor on 35pts. The Guest event was won by Tom Larson on 40pts and 2nd Gary Hall on 39 pts. The afternoon foursomes was won by a very delighted Frank Hynes and Will Jarrett-Kerr on 37pts on count back and 2nd Jason Warren and his son George also on 37pts.
